stuck with LND 150 fx loop
« am: 26.05.2015 16:39 »
Hey folks - First post here - been a customer for a few years but never knew about the forum! great!! even with google translate...

Firstly sorry for my english speaking!! Despite living in Potsdam for a year I am not good enough to use german  :-[

I have just rebuilt my blues junior as the B+ trace had lifted of the PCB after a capacitor fail and I did not like to patch it up so I went ahead and rebuilt using turrets.  Unfortunately this meant leaving out the reverb... so I am trying to use the serial lnd150 fx loop but not sure how to insert it at the correct place?

I am considering using after the V2 coupling cap before the master volume if possible - I am not sure if the VPP will be too high here?

would it be advisable to instead use a 47k volatage divide at the junction with R18? or is there no need?

I would love to have reveb pedal included so Thank you!

Hi,

I would install the loop after the Tone-Stack (between Treble-Wiper and R15) and not before the Master. But of course you can try both positions and decide by yourself.
The voltage itself is not a problem.

Try it and you will see it - or better saying: you will hear it. If the signal level is to high than the signal will distort in an ugly way.
So check it first with the Hi than with the Lo and than use the one which sounds better for you.

If you should have a scope than use it !

Best regards, Dirk

If using the ears would the best process be to firstly  plug a guitar direct into the return of the loop and calibrate return potentiometer for best sound? Afterwards then connect pedal up to the loop and then adjust the send potentiometer? ?
Thanks!

There is no "best practice".
You can check it with the guitar first and than with the pedals connected.

install is successful with the levels by ear but it has a nasty hum -

shielding helps it a little but I think there is something more could be done?

Has anyone else cleaned the B+ for better noise floor? Currently I get 246v straight of the filter capacitor and into the fxloop board.

Any ideas?

edit - just had idea - maybe change b+ ground to cathode of v2 will help? that would be after R17 in diagram above post

yes cathode ground for some reason helps
And i had to make a shield cage because of proximity to Power transformer but it is manageable now!!

I wish i knew better how to calibrate - especially the return...

anyway thankyou for help!

Hallo,

add a new filter stage (R-C) to your PSU with e.g. R = 10 k, C = 47 µF. This helps a lot in many cases.
