As some of you are aware i´m partial to the old Munchen based Klemt made amps.
From a electrical design point of view...wow. Most of them at least. As such i´ve collected a fair share of both Klemts and Winstons over the years, and the only one that really presented a problem diggin up was...the real early -60s Klemt B40N.
Well.
Legends states there was a combo version produced of the B40N. The amp most of us have never seen...like unobtanium.
Guess what.
This walked in the door at the shop today. Rather boxy looking in my opinion..almost sort of Dynacord Rex style.
That said i presume most of you have never seen a G40..so here goes.
Yep. Kosher... Sorry to say 4 of the knobs has been replaced by what seems to be Dynacord Eminent dittos.
Yep. What they´ve basically done is that they just crammed a B40N chassis in there.
This though certainly isn´t stock. What it controls might very well be though.
Yep. This one sports a spring reverb. Now please have in mind what vintage we´re talking here. The driver unit (the stand alone chassis bolted to the left hand panel in the pic) contains German made parts though...and the reverb TANK in turn is a Hammond.
Now...that,to me,is rather normal. Have seen plenty German made amps with reverbs that use Hammond tanks.
That said.....i´d say this is about as rare as it gets. To my knowledge this is the ONLY pics i´ve ever seen or hear of of the G40.
What´s up ahead is a sort of resto. In other words it won´t only be overhauled but also be presented a few modifications. Them modifications though will ALL be reversible.
I´ll fabricate a separate bracket för what´s needed as far as controls. The add-on reverb pot in turn will be moved to said bracket too. Where it´s at is CERTAINLY not stock.
