Relay power supply

Hi folks

I’m new here, and new to relays.

I see there are many options for the relay power supply. I have a TT extended 18W PT with a 8V and 6.3V winding spare on its way. What is a preferred modern design for powering a single 5 or 12V relay for channel switching please?
