Using sand for "Hi-Gain" (whatever this means) is normaly easier to handle and painless.

Any sound which fulfills the following criteria is classified as 'high-gain:'
1.
Each of
at least three preamp stages has the daylights driven out of it.
2.
To me, the tone sounds like swarms of giant bees trapped in an empty hazardous materials transporter.
But that's just me. YMMV
